Our Road Traffic Offences expertise
Road traffic offences can be as egregious as violent crime, as the consequences of driving dangerously, without due care and attention, or whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs is akin to driving around with a loaded gun. The courts tend to view road traffic offences with particular severity as the risk of harm caused by vehicular mishandling can literally be fatal.
The types of offences that may constitute ‘serious’ road traffic offences are those in which the driver has caused serious injury or death. Such offences include causing death or serious injury by dangerous driving, careless or inconsiderate driving, or driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs. ‘Minor’ road traffic offences, such as speeding, driving whilst disqualified or uninsured and using a mobile phone whilst driving, may not be considered a serious offence unless those actions contributed to the causation of serious harm or death by resulting in dangerous or careless driving.
If you have been involved in a road traffic collision and have been asked to attend the police station for an interview or have been arrested, bailed, or charged with a criminal road traffic offence, our solicitors can provide professional advice and representation at all stages of the criminal proceedings.
