Our Coroner’s Inquests expertise
Inquest proceedings are inquisitorial, not adversarial, and therefore, there is no resulting acquittal or conviction; it is a finding of fact rather than a placing of blame. We work to represent and protect our client’s interests while simultaneously assisting the Coroner in reaching a conclusion at the end of an inquest to establish who, when, where and how the deceased came by their death. Acting for the family
When representing the family of the deceased, we guide bereaved relatives through the coronial process with tact and sensitivity to minimise the distress that inquest proceedings can bring.
The prevailing objective for the family or individual involved in the inquest is to obtain clarity on how their loved one passed away; this will normally involve a fact-finding investigation led by the Coroner into any issues and questions surrounding the death in order to determine such matters and reach a conclusion.
