Joanna Cotgrove - Partner
Joanna is a Partner and is the Business Unit Director for our Family Law department.
She focuses on the more complex issues that arise out of family and marriage breakdown, child arrangements, and the preparation of pre and post-nuptial agreements.
Her work in relation to the financial aspects of divorce includes cases where there is a complex jurisdiction issue. She regularly advises on cases involving family-run businesses, trusts, and where there may be an international element.
Matters relating to children encompass the representation of Special Guardians both in public and private law cases – these regularly contain issues of alienation and domestic violence. Additionally, she advises where applications concern the removal of children to a different country.
Joanna frequently works with Ashtons’ Court of Protection team to provide advice in relation to vulnerable clients and any domestic violence issues that can arise for them. In instances where they are considering cohabitation and marriage, she will advise on the protection of assets.
Joanna is highly experienced in the preparation of pre and post-nuptial agreements (particularly those with an international element) as well as cohabitation agreements for unmarried couples and separation agreements, particularly when there are children involved.
Joanna is a member of Resolution.
