Amanda Cavanagh - Associate
Amanda (Mandy) is an Associate and member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) and works within the Medical Negligence Express Resolution team.
Mandy has worked in Ashton Legal’s Medical Negligence team since 1998 and comes from a forces background having served as a Safety Equipment Fitter in the Royal Air Force for nine years.
She has successfully concluded many varied medical negligence claims over the years and is passionate about seeking and obtaining justice for her clients. She takes great pride in knowing that she has done all she can to fight her client’s corner and get them the outcome they’re after, whether this be compensation, an apology or reassurance that the same mistakes will not be made again.
Recent case highlights include:
- a five-figure settlement and admission from a Norfolk hospital that giving a timely emergency caesarean section to a mother in their care could have saved her baby’s life
- a settlement and an acknowledgement of error for the family of a woman who suffered an arterial bleed as a result of a dosing error.
- settlement for the failure to diagnose and treat failed hip replacement
- five figure settlement for misdiagnosed injury to child’s elbow resulting in permanent functional limitations
- settlement achieved for a man whose wife died as a result of a failure to diagnose and treat bowel obstruction

Outside of work, Mandy volunteers for Home-Start which involves helping families who find themselves in need of emotional or practical support or simply want a trusted individual to talk to. She also enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
