Over £3 million obtained for brain-injured motorcyclist
A specialist catastrophic-injury solicitor at Ashtons Legal, and her legal team have obtained a settlement of over £3 million for Mr H. Mr H, a Suffolk man, suffered a severe brain injury and various physical injuries as the result of a motorcycle collision in Ipswich.
Following a stay of several weeks in Addenbrooke’s Hospital and subsequent treatment, it became clear that Mr H’s neurological injuries had profoundly affected his memory, his mood, his safety-awareness, his concentration and his communication skills. Before the motorcycle crash, he was a fit, healthy and independent young man with a rosy future and had a regular earned income.
Now he is unlikely ever to hold down a full-time job or have a long-term relationship or children, is unable to manage his own finances, and requires help with various aspects of day-to-day living. His physical injuries have, fortunately, improved over time although he does have some ongoing symptoms.
Ashtons comments: “This compensation award will enable Mr H to live largely independently with professional support and to access further rehabilitation treatment to ensure that his life is as good as it can be. Sadly, as he is only in his 30s, he faces a lifetime of difficulties that money cannot resolve.”
