Injured lady receives five times more than insurers’ original offer
Ashtons Legal solicitor Louise Harper has just obtained a settlement of over £14,000 for a Buckinghamshire businesswoman who suffered several broken ribs and a range of other shorter-term injuries after slipping on a wet floor in a department store.
As she was unable to work during a busy season for her business, Ms B brought a claim and was initially offered £2,600 by the store’s insurers. Since this was not going to cover her lost earnings for the period that she was unable to work, she sought advice from Ashtons and has now received a settlement which means she is not out of pocket as a result of the incident and her injuries.
Louise comments: “This is yet another example of insurers making a quick offer of an insultingly low compensation figure in the hope that the injured party won’t pursue a legal claim for the amount they should rightfully receive. I’m delighted that we’ve been able to help Ms B to achieve a satisfactory outcome.”
