A woman who fell down a manhole while on holiday in Turkey has received a six-figure settlement.

Michelle Dragon, 49, suffered an eight-centimetre gash on her head, as well as shin injuries, after falling down the manhole in Marmaris while on holiday with friends.

According to the Daily Echo, Ms Dragon claims there were no warning signs and has asked for the full compensation figure not to be revealed.

“The hole was surrounded by tables and chairs. The first I knew of it was when I gained consciousness in agony on the concrete floor 12ft below ground,” she told the newspaper.

Ms Dragon had to spend ten days recovering from her injuries in a Turkish hospital and says it was a good job she had taken out insurance, or she would not have even been collected by an ambulance.

UK Storage Company was recently fined thousands of pounds after an employee broke his back, arm and ribs in a fall.

If you’ve suffered an injury as the result of an accident at work, the personal injury team at Ashtons Legal will be happy to advise you on whether you have a claim.
