A woman has been awarded more than £19,000 in unfair dismissal compensation after lodging an employment law claim against her former managers.

Christine Green, 66, was fired from her position of housekeeper at Kilconquhar Castle Estate in Fife in November 2009, the Scottish Sun reports.

She was told this was because she had defied an order from her boss Anne Duncan to report her whereabouts in and around the hotel every 30 minutes.

However, she took legal action on the grounds that the request was “not reasonable” and has now won her case in front of an employment law tribunal.

Judge Chris Lucas ruled she had been the victim of “distrust and bad blood” from her manager and awarded Ms Green £19,096 in unfair dismissal compensation.

Anyone who feels their employment ended unreasonably may be eligible to claim unfair dismissal compensation and should seek the advice of a specialist solicitor.
