Swindon Patheon workers facing redundancy

Dozens of members of staff at Patheon’s facility in Swindon may be facing redundancy after the US firm announced a restructure of its operations in the UK.The pharmaceuticals company revealed it is looking to cut 91 positions in its commercial and pharmaceutical development services.It was added by Patheon that as many 400 further workers at the Swindon plant may be facing redundancy as a result of the plans to restructure the company.“The company has begun the consultative process with the works councils representing the employees at the Swindon and Milton Park facilities,” read a statement released by the US firm.Changes being made by the organisation include the winding down or transferring of non-cephalosporin commercial production to other sites it runs.According to Patheon’s website, the company is a world-class provider of sterile and cephalosporin products, with the two UK sites it operates playing a major role in this part of the business.Posted by Ross Strowger
