Survey Results reveal long delays for Employment Tribunal Service
The Employment Lawyers Association revealed survey results on 25 June 2019 on the topic of Employment Tribunals.
The survey, which ran for three weeks between May and June 2019, found respondents have been experiencing delays in both urgent and on-urgent applications to the tribunal. There were also delays in telephone calls being answered and Orders and Judgments were taking longer than the previous year.
Additionally, the survey found that a third of hearings have been transferred to a different tribunal centre and the most affected places were London, the South East and Wales.
Claire Sleep, a partner in Ashtons Employment team, comments: “All the delays experienced with the employment tribunal lead to increased costs for clients and it is difficult to explain these delays to clients – particularly when tribunals are cancelled at the last minute.”
The Employment Lawyers Association has written to the Presidents of the Employment Tribunals in England and Wales and in Scotland to share their survey results with them and to highlight where respondents most severe concerns lay.
