Julie Crossley, a medical negligence specialist at Ashtons Legal, has obtained £7,500 for the family of an elderly Norfolk lady who died prematurely in hospital after being given a vast overdose of insulin by a junior doctor. She comments: “Mrs J’s family brought this claim in order to draw attention to the need for medical students and junior doctors to be properly trained in relation to the potential dangers of inappropriate insulin administration. They have been reassured that changes have now been made to help ensure that no one else dies in the same way.Claims in relation to elderly people are rarely brought for financial reasons as there is usually no loss of earnings and no one financially dependent upon them. However, it is vital that these sorts of problems are followed through to ensure improved care for others in the future.”
