£500k spent on redundancies by health trust

Close to £500,000 has been paid in redundancy payments by a health trust in the north of England in the space of a year.Warrington North MP Helen Jones described the figure of £465,000 as an “enormous waste”, reports the Warrington Guardian.”It is outrageous that the Tory-led Government is forcing the NHS to waste billions of pounds on this unnecessary and damaging top-down reorganisation,” she told the news provider, adding more than £12.5 million is being taken away from budgets for patient care in order to cover the cost of what she described as an “attack” on the NHS by the coalition government. The MP added that many of the people who were made redundant could be given jobs back in the NHS once changes to the health service are made by the government.Earlier this week, the Guardian revealed the BBC has paid more than £275 million in redundancy payments over the course of the last seven years.Posted by Ross Strowger
