Ashtons Legal’s Julie Crossley has obtained £20,000 for the family of an elderly man who suffered unnecessary pain prior to his death.

Mr H was suffering from bladder cancer which was untreatable. However, the failure of his local A&E department to implement sepsis 6 care when he was admitted led to a cardiac arrest which was potentially avoidable. He then went on to contract severe pressure ulcers which went undetected and treated.

Julie Crossley comments: “Mr H had a right to be cared for properly throughout his illness and the NHS Trust responsible for his local hospital has admitted that his care was sub-standard in several respects. We are pleased to learn that changes have been made in this particular hospital to try to ensure that no one else suffers from the same problems.”
