£100,000 compensation obtained following a road traffic accident

Tom Ranson, a personal injury specialist at Ashtons Legal, has obtained compensation for Mr P who required medical treatment and specialist orthopaedic and psychiatric review after suffering a whiplash-type spinal injury and psychiatric symptoms following a significant road traffic accident in 2011.

This was a hard fought case with the defendant insurers initially suggesting before court proceedings were issued that the claim was worth less than £10,000. After proceedings were issued, they increased to £20,000, with a settlement of £100,000 being agreed following a meeting with the Defendant’s legal team, with the matter due to go to trial later this year.

Mr P, a heating and plumbing engineer at the time of the accident, underwent treatment for his physical and psychological symptoms (funded on a private basis through the claim) and was able to continue working, although had to adapt to accommodate his injuries by eventually moving into a management role. Mr P was pleased that he followed our advice not to accept the previous offers, with the settlement figure being ten times more than the original offer.
