A local councillor has described a recent planning law decision as being a victory for communities.Developers have been submitting applications to build on sites across the west of the country ever since rules were changed to open up previously protected areas. But the government has blocked an application for a development in the Back Bridge Valley in Wiltshire, reports the Western Daily Press.Local councillor Simon Killane stated it gives people hope that they can fight plans in their area.He said: “If we had lost this it would have been a disaster, but now hopefully this will be an inspiration to people.”The councillor added it is not that Wiltshire residents are opposed to new homes or supermarkets being built in the area, but that they were given no say in the matter.Director-general of the Institute of Directors Simon Walker recently called for planning law reform to reduce the housing crisis in the UK.Posted by Charles Webb
