Planning law change affecting pubs moves closer
Posted 16/07/2012
Changes to planning law that could affect pubs across the UK have moved a step closer to being introduced.According to a report by Big Hospitality, the Ten Minute Rule bill was introduced by MP for Cambridge Julian Huppert.Mr Huppert, who is also a member of the All-Party ‘Save the Pub’ group of MPs, wants to add new constraints to planning law to prevent former pubs from being turned into shops and other facilities. However, the government’s insistence it wants to cut red tape to aid new developments may turn out to be a blockage to the proposals to amend planning law that have been put forward by the MP.Other changes to planning law previously announced by the coalition government included the fact barn conversions from homeowners and businesspeople are going to be fast-tracked under a change to legislation aimed at pushing developments through faster to boost rural growth.Posted by Charles Webb
