Over £20,000 obtained for woman following workplace accident

Ashtons Legal personal injury specialist Justina Molloy has obtained over £20,000 for Ms T, who lives in Suffolk. Ms T worked in a factory environment and while using a walkway across the factory was hit and knocked unconscious by a forklift truck. She sustained a knee injury which required an arthroscopy and physiotherapy and may have long-term complications. She also had shorter-term bruising and soft-tissue damage. The accident could have been prevented if there had been a safe system of work in place and the driver of the forklift truck had been operating his vehicle properly. Justina comments: “We see so many workplace accidents where a little more attention to, and compliance with, Health and Safety requirements would have prevented an injury. Sometimes injuries are comparatively minor, but we have also represented clients who have suffered severe brain injuries and amputations as the result of breaches of Health and Safety regulations. Unfortunately, ignoring the rules can have a devastating effect on people’s lives.” The current government is seeking to remove these protections from workers who will inevitably suffer more injuries as a result.
