Over £100,000 obtained for back seat passengers

Siobhan McWhinney has obtained a total of £108,000 for two men who were travelling in the back of a friend’s car which failed to stop at a crossroads and was hit by an oncoming vehicle. The two men suffered a range of injuries, including orthopaedic injuries requiring surgery and head injuries. One also suffered psychological trauma.
Siobhan comments: “Some people are reluctant to make an injury claim when they are passengers in a vehicle whose driver was at fault, particularly if that person was a friend. The important thing to remember is that if the injury was not your fault and you have suffered injuries which have an impact on your quality of life or ability to earn a living then you are entitled to bring a claim. The aim is always to put you back as far as possible into the position you were in before the incident. It is not your friend personally who will compensate you, it is their insurance company.”
