Over £400,000 compensation obtained for severely injured couple

Siobhan Thacker, an Ashtons Legal solicitor who specialises in claims for people who suffer life-changing injuries, has secured substantial settlements for a husband and wife in their 40s who were involved in a serious road collision in Suffolk three years ago.

Mr and Mrs T’s car was hit by an oncoming JCB which was pulling an empty trailer and whose driver lost control of the vehicle. Both Mr and Mrs T suffered a range of serious physical and psychological injuries. Both were fit and well before the collision but now face life with seriously impaired mobility and quality of life even following extensive surgery.

They have both been told by medical experts that they will need total knee replacements within the next 10 to 15 years. Mr T is unable to go back to the physical job that he held before the road collision and they are both unable to pursue sports and other leisure activities that were an important part of their lives.

However, this settlement will help to ensure that they have a reasonable quality of life. For instance, they are able to make adaptations to their home to compensate for reduced mobility and will no longer be out of pocket for money that they would have earned if they had retained their previous jobs.”
