Over £75,000 for long-term side effects of double car shunt

Tom Ranson, a personal injury specialist at Ashtons, has obtained a substantial settlement for a woman in her 30s who was caught in the middle of a vehicle shunt and suffered neck, shoulder and back injuries as a result. Mrs T was sitting in her car in stationary traffic when a vehicle drove into her from the rear forcing Mrs F to shunt forward and collide with the car in front. The driver of the rear vehicle admitted being at fault.
Mrs T suffered pain in her neck, across her shoulders and the lower part of her back as a result of the accident. When she went to the hospital, she was assessed to have ‘whiplash’ injuries as a result of the two collisions. A secondary consequence of the collisions was that Mrs T developed anxiety disorder associated with driving in her car for long distances. She underwent physiotherapy and, nearly three years after the accident, was referred to a pain management consultant to help manage her future pain treatment as she was still experiencing the effects of the traffic collision.
Tom Ranson comments: “Whiplash injuries can vary vastly in severity; some are short-term and recover fully and quickly while others can result in lifelong pain. If you are injured in an accident which was not entirely your fault, then ensuring that symptoms are diagnosed properly as soon as possible is important. Your personal injury lawyer can then ensure that you obtain the compensation you deserve in order to treat your symptoms on a long-term basis if this is justified.”
