Road accident claims can cover any number of different situations involving moving vehicles. Occasionally however an accident occurs when the engine is switched off. Opening car doors without checking may also give rise to a claim if you open it into the path of a cyclist or knock a pedestrian off balance.Ashtons Legal has just obtained ?14,000 for a pedestrian injured in exactly this way.Michael Wangermann, a personal injury partner at Ashtons Legal, says: “People think that car accidents only happen when the car is moving but they can cover a range of different circumstances. Something as simple as opening a car door can cause serious injury. In this case the claimant suffered injuries to an arm, shoulder and leg after being knocked to the pavement by the force of the car door being opened without due care.”
