The success of the government’s employment law reform is dependent on the contribution of human resources (HR) departments, according to North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb.Speaking at the opening of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development conference, the employment minister stated HR has a vital role to play.According to a report by People Management, he explained there is a need for a wider change in employment relations across the country.Mr Lamb called for “a culture that establishes dialogue rather than conflict as the norm that trusts people to do the right thing rather than rely on legislation to deal with every single issue that arises,” adding businesses need to be given the confidence by employment law regulations to hire the talented and committed workforce they need if they are to thrive.Mr Lamb is the Liberal Democrat MP for the North Norfolk constituency and has represented the region for the last 11 years.Posted by Hywel Griffiths
