New charity of the year partnerships announced

Ashtons Legal has announced its support for three new charities. From April 2012, the firm will be supporting EACH (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices), Big C and Headway through a Charity of the Year partnership.Each year, staff at the firm vote for the charities they wish to support. The firm aims to raise at least £10,000 during the year through a range of activities, including a Wills Week, a bowling event and staff participation in local sporting events.The firm has recently raised £2,500 through a Wills Week and are running a charity bowling event on 29 March in Bury St Edmunds to raise funds for their current charities, the East Anglian Air Ambulance, Ipswich based Iceni and Norfolk based Nelson’s Journey.Alison Budge, Partner and Head of the firm’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) committee said: “We are delighted to be able to lend our support to these three charities, which were voted for by our staff. They are each providing vital services and support in the local community to those who really need it.”Big C provides a range of support for those affected by cancer in Norfolk and Waveney, including through their centre at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. Cathryn Parrish, Head of Key Supporter Relations commented: “Business support such as this is vital for Big C to be able to provide the life-saving cancer equipment, support and care for local people affected by cancer. We’re delighted that Ashtons Legal will be working with us this year, as it will mean we can provide the practical support that local families need at their vulnerable times.”Headway, which has branches across the eastern region, provides support for people with brain injuries, as well as their relatives and carers. Ashtons Legal will be supporting Headway Cambridgeshire, Headway Ipswich and East Suffolk, Headway Norfolk and Waveney and Headway West Suffolk.Ann Weitzel, Head of Corporate Affairs at Headway Cambridgeshire said: “We are pleased to be working with Ashtons Legal as our corporate partners, and we are delighted that they have chosen Headway Cambridgeshire. We hope that the Ashtons Legal team have fun with their charity events throughout the year, whilst at the same time helping us to raise awareness of brain injury.”
