A motorcyclist who launched a personal injury claim after being seriously hurt in a road crash has been awarded £650,000 with which to rebuild his life.

Anthony Williams, now 33, hit an oncoming car head-on after a van being driven by Wayne Giles crossed into his path in July 2006, the Swindon Advertiser attests.

The victim sustained multiple fractures, damage to his nerves and also a brain injury in the crash, which meant he was forced to give up his full-time job.

He decided to seek personal injury compensation from Mr Giles to cover his future care needs and has now been awarded £650,000.

“This money is for rebuilding my life, for doing the things I would be doing if I was still able to work full-time,” he commented.

Although motorbikes only make up one per cent of road traffic, they account for 20 per cent of all road deaths and serious injuries, according to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
