Media Wales announces more redundancies

Media Wales, which announced a raft of redundancies earlier in the year, has revealed more workers are going to be losing their jobs.A further 14 members of staff are going to be made redundant by the organisation as a result of cutbacks, with employees based in the advertising department to be affected.Two members of staff in editorial are also going to be losing their jobs, adding to the 22 individuals who were made redundant earlier in the year.Martin Shipton, chair of the Cardiff and south-east Wales branch of the National Union of Journalists, described the news as a “very serious blow” to the industry.”In July, we lost 23 full-time equivalent posts. We thought that was the end of it for this year but out-of-the blue, this announcement has come,” he added.As many as 70 IT workers at Cheshire East Council are facing redundancy as a result of cuts at the local authority, the Sentinel reported.
