Many Brits ‘struggling to sell homes’
Posted 17/07/2011
A growing number of homeowners may wish to seek the advice of a residential conveyancing solicitor when it comes to selling their property.
This is because, according to new figures from Rightmove, many individuals are struggling to finalise transactions.
Research conducted by the firm shows 70 per cent of the homes put up for sale so far in 2011 are still on the market.
Furthermore, many people are revising the price of their abode downwards, as the average value has declined by 1.6 per cent – or £3,797 – this month compared with June.
This takes the mean cost of a property in the UK to £236,597, according to the property portal.
These results echo those recently released by the Department for Communities and Local Government.
Its most recent house price index showed a 0.5 per cent decline in values during May compared with the previous month, bringing the average mix-adjusted house price to £203,528.
