Low crime rate ‘could boost housing market in Norfolk’
Posted 24/06/2009
Norfolk has been identified as the safest county in England, as crime rates are lower than anywhere else in the country.
According to new figures from iQuanta, there were just 58.49 crimes per every thousand residents during the 2008/09 financial year.
The statistics have been hailed by Savills estate agent, which believes they could encourage more people to make a property purchase in the region.
Louis de Soissons, from the company’s Norwich outlet, commented: “We have a stable and safe environment here in Norfolk and that is an important factor when people are looking to move from outside the county.”
He said Norfolk offers unspoilt surroundings, real market towns and a safe environment in which they can bring up a family.
Mr de Soissons added that achieving the lowest crime figures in England could “certainly be a boost” to property sales in Norfolk.
This comes after Rightmove reported that in June, average property values in the UK fell by 0.4 per cent on the previous month to £226,436.
