Protests over redundancy among teachers in Lancashire have been launched.Teacher Peter Rush presented a petition calling for an independent investigation to Blackburn with Darwen’s Council Forum as it did not have a plan to prevent it from having to let members of staff go.Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, he stated there was a “careless cynicism about employee welfare and a culture of denial” at the local authority.Teachers who are facing redundancy from schools across the region have also claimed they were “misled” over the Building Schools for the Future programme and its impact on jobs.Mr Rush told the newspaper that teachers were informed by the council the launch of a redeployment website would not mean redundancies, only for this not to be the case.Workers from the Fforestfach Remploy facility went on a protest march against redundancy plans over the weekend, the South Wales Evening Post reported.Posted by Ross Strowger
