Posted 13/10/2013
An inquest opens in Ipswich tomorrow into the death of a month-old baby girl from Felixstowe. Isabel Niamh King was born in May 2012 at St Thomas’s Hospital in London. She was diagnosed with congenital heart disease and subsequently underwent successful surgery at Evelina Children’s Hospital before being transferred to Ipswich Hospital in June. Isabel’s parents passed on instructions from the Evelina Hospital as to their child’s treatment and pointed out that the staff at the Evelina were expecting Ipswich Hospital to contact them.Ashtons Legal inquests specialist Sharon Allison will be representing the King family. She says: “It wouldn’t be proper to speculate before the inquest as to the exact tragic circumstances of baby Isabel’s death, but clearly Isabel’s grieving parents will look to the inquest to explain how her death could have happened.”
