Anyone looking to seek the advice of a residential conveyancing lawyer to sell a property may be interested in new figures released by Halifax.
Its latest statistics show that average UK house prices increased by 1.1 per cent in March, taking them up to £168,521.
This was the eighth rise in the past nine months and shows a nine per cent difference on prices from April 2009, when the property market hit an all-time low.
It is also good news for the property sector following a 1.6 decline in February.
Halifax housing economist Martin Ellis said the figures seem to show that more properties are now being put up for sale.
“This should help to contain the upward pressure on house prices,” he added.
However, property consultant Catherine Penman warned homeowners that property prices may dip again in April as a result of the forthcoming general election.
It was recently reported by Zoopla.co.uk that 81 per cent of the people who own a property in the UK expect it to increase in value over the next six months.
