HBF calls for ‘positive pro-growth planning law’
Posted 16/02/2012
The Home Builders Federation (HBF) has called for the coalition government to ensure its changes to planning law are pro-growth.Steve Turner, head of communications at the body, stated the final proposals for the new planning system are soon to be published after the initial release of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) drew criticism from a wide range of sources last summer. He said: “These have got to be right; otherwise all of the other initiatives are going to struggle to help them deliver more homes.”Mr Turner called for a positive pro-growth planning system to emerge in the coming weeks that will allow the homes that are needed to be built. They will also allow these additional policies that the coalition government is announcing to help them do that, he added. The consultation period for the NPPF came to an end in the middle of October after feedback on the changes to the proposed planning law were suggested.
