Guardian Angels

Did you know that 7th November is the day on which babies conceived on Valentine’s Day are due to enter the world?

Life changing events, such as a baby being born, trigger the need to review your Will to see if it needs updating.

This could be seen as an essential part of the nesting process.

So, what changes might you need to make to your Will? The most common reason for making a Will for the very first time or updating its content is to ensure that appropriate guardians are appointed to look after your children after your death. This can not only give piece of mind during your lifetime but helps alleviate any uncertainty or confusion in what is a highly distressing and emotional time for the family left behind after your death. It also allows you to retain an element of control over your children’s future by choosing who you feel is the most appropriate guardian for your children rather than leaving it to the Courts to decide.

It is important to note however, that while guardianship clauses are not binding on the Court, they are a clear statement of your wishes, which a Court would find extremely persuasive.
