Clinical negligence claims are being launched by several families over the treatment of mothers at Furness General Hospital’s maternity ward. Each case is thought to be at a different stage of progress against the Barrow centre, which is run by the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. The Westmorland Gazette reports that one father from Furness has launched his claim with the Royal Courts of Justice in London.Special measures were recently launched by the Care Quality Commission, which stated that the hospital is facing closure unless it shows signs of improvement in the coming months.Earlier in the year, the family of a man who died on Christmas Day as a result of a misdiagnosis of Crohn’s Disease won a six-figure clinical negligence settlement.Malcolm Drake’s fiancee Sophie Lindop stated that she was relieved the family’s fight for justice has been resolved, despite the pair’s four-year-old son Zak being left without a father. If you’ve suffered an injury as the result of clinical negligence, the team at Ashtons Legal will be happy to advise you on whether you have a claim.
