Ben Ward, a medical injury solicitor at Ashtons Legal, has obtained compensation for a woman in her 50s who suffered pain, and unsuccessful treatment, at the hands of her dentist.

Having had problems with dental decay she was keen to have veneers to improve the appearance of her teeth. The dentist fitted the veneers without either giving her appropriate advice about other possible treatments available or showing her how she might improve her oral hygiene and control further decay before fitting the veneers.

Some two years later, after enduring considerable pain as well as the cost of the treatment, one of the veneers fell out and the others are not expected to last as long as originally predicted by the dentist.
