Cuts to defence budgets may be set to result in armed forces employees in East Anglia losing their jobs.Positions at RAF Marham or Swanton Morley could be affected by the latest reduction in staff members by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), according to the Norwich Evening News. However, a spokesman for the MoD refused to confirm where the expected 2,900 Army job losses will be, with details set to be published in due course.”Regional information will be included in this breakdown but it would be misleading to make any assumptions about regional job losses as individuals have been selected, not the posts they occupy,” he said.It was previously revealed by a source on the Public Accounts Committee that the MoD could be forced to rehire members of staff who had been made redundant due to skills shortages, the Sunday Telegraph reported.Defence secretary Philip Hammond stated it is with “regret” the MoD has to inform thousands of armed forces employees that they are facing redundancy.Posted by Ross Strowger
