Court of Protection team: Who am I? Richard Dubery
Posted 16/06/2016
Our thriving Court of Protection team continues to grow and this piece focuses on a different team member each month so you can get to know a little bit more about the person on the other end of the phone and put a face to a name! This month we introduce Project Co-ordinator Richard Dubery.
Take it away Richard!
How long have you been working at Ashton KCJ?
17 months, having started in March 2015.
What is your current role? (including a description of your main duties)
From 1st June this year I have been Project Co-Ordinator within the Court Of Protection Team which involves assisting the Relationship Managers in matters such as property purchases and sales, assisting with building contracts in relation to property adaptations and reviewing & arranging the more complex insurance policies required by clients.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
The variety of tasks undertaken and liaising with the different people/professionals involved.
What is the most challenging part of your role?
Keeping on top of all the various ongoing issues, especially when there are time deadlines to be met and often several things have to be actioned urgently at the same time.
What is your most memorable or proudest moment in the team?
Receiving the Core Values Award for February 2016.
What did you do before you joined AKCJ?
I worked part-time in a Fish & Chip shop for 2 years whilst doing A-Levels! Then when I left school, I went straight into working for NatWest Bank where I did a variety of jobs, mainly management support roles, with my last 12 years being spent in Commercial Banking.
If you weren’t working in the Court of Protection Team what might you have ended up doing?
I would probably have stayed at NatWest, possibly undertaking a different role but likely still within the Commercial Banking Department.
Tell us something people would be surprised to know about you?
Whilst in 6th Form, I took part in the Radio 4 Inter-School Quiz, “Top Of The Form”.
What is your favourite pass time outside of work?
I enjoy going to the theatre, particularly for comedy and/or music shows.
What advice do you wish you could go back and give your younger self?
Don’t be afraid of the unknown and grasp every opportunity you have with both hands!
