A council in the south of England is considering using planning law in its efforts to move travellers from close to the Dale Farm site.Basildon Council has been attempting to relocate caravans that are illegally parked near to the location for some time and using legislation to move them on has been mooted.A Basildon Council spokesman stated the legal team at the local authority is in talks about its options for the site, reports BBC News.”We just need to consider whether we go down the judicial or planning route. Enforcement of planning law is absolutely an option,” he told the news provider. The council spokesman added that the decision needs to be in the interests of local taxpayers.Changes to planning law were recently unveiled by the coalition government in the National Planning Policy Framework, which was welcomed by the British Property Federation as it is going to open up development opportunities.Posted by Charles Webb
