Writing Willsshould be considered a priority for those looking to take all of the precautions necessary in estate planning, according to an expert.

The Institute of Professional Willwriters (IPW) has told the Daily Mail that many people are choosing to put off producing a Will simply because they feel they do not want one yet.

This tallies with recent Unbiased.co.uk research suggesting that more than half of people in the UK are yet to write one.

Moreover, the Fellowship of Professional Willwriters and Probate Practitioners state that this figure is as high as 85 per cent among those aged between 18 and 30.

However, Paul Sharpe, chairman of the IPW, stated that the Will writing process can have extensive benefits to future financial planning even beyond protecting against inheritance tax charges.

He said: “Having a conversation with someone about a Will can often lead on to other issues, such as planning to pay for care fees.”
