Claimant success in £125,000 eye trauma case

Tom Ranson of Ashtons Legal injury services has obtained compensation for Mr C, who required medical treatment and specialist ophthalmic review after suffering a head injury in a road traffic accident. The defendant insurer originally offered £2,500, despite knowing that the claimant had suffered a serious eye injury. When the insurers saw the full expert medical evidence, received a detailed breakdown of the financial effects of the injury on Mr C and with the threat of Court proceedings, they realised how badly they had misjudged the case and increased their offer to £100,000. Following our advice Mr C rejected this and put forward a counter-proposal of £125,000 which was accepted.Tom Ranson comments: “This was a very unusual and complicated case. Fortunately, through Ashtons Legal, the client had access to excellent medico-legal opinion, which we were then able to use to good effect to secure compensation at the top end of the scale.”
