Claimant success in complex psychiatric case
Posted 12/09/2012
Tom Ranson of Ashtons Legal injury services obtained personal injury compensation for a young local man, Mr A, who, as an 11 year old, suffered a very severe and prolonged psychiatric episode as a consequence of a road traffic accident. This was further complicated by his existing learning difficulties and previous childhood trauma.
In what senior Counsel and the medical experts agreed was “one of the most challenging cases on psychiatric causation” they had encountered, we were delighted to be able to bring matters to a highly successful conclusion on behalf of Mr A.
Tom Ranson comments: “This was a case which required considerable experience and expertise from a medico-legal perspective, but also a huge amount of understanding and stamina given the client’s difficulties. Indeed, on the face of it (certainly if you believed the Defendants) this is a case which should have settled for nominal damages. As it was, the case settled prior to trial for £60,000”.
