Car crash victim receives

A man who was severely brain-damaged in a car accident has been awarded personal injury compensation totalling £3.6 million by a court in Liverpool.
Andrew Chin, aged 39, hit his head on the steering wheel when his vehicle was struck from behind in 2008 while he was parked in a layby on the A55 in north Wales.
The collision left him with severe head injuries which still require intensive rehabilitation and have left him unable to accomplish many simple household tasks.
His wife Michelle said after the hearing: “I don’t think anyone can imagine how devastating a brain injury can be, it’s turned our lives upside down as its robbed Andrew of his independence.”
His lawyer Jonathan Betts added that it is important people do not see the award as a “lottery win” for the family, as it will be use to fund the lifetime of care Mr Chin now requires.
The driver of the car that hit him was convicted of driving without due care and attention and received a fine.
Elsewhere, a woman who was struck by a speeding ambulance on an emergency call has also won the right to compensation after the operator of the vehicle accepted full liability.
