Buying French property ‘a reality’ for many Britons
Posted 23/04/2012
Purchasing homes in foreign countries such as France is now a reality for a lot of people in the UK.James Price, head of international residential development at global residential and commercial property consultancy Knight Frank, stated this was previously a dream for many, but far more individuals are now considering buying second homes in the sun.”Climate and investment are the biggest drivers; the recession here is not really a factor,” he said, although he admitted tax reasons are sometimes a reason behind the decision to purchase a home overseas.Mr Price also claimed the aspiration of owning a home away from the UK is something a lot of people aim to achieve in their lives.Matthew Cameron, who heads the French Legal Services team at Ashtons Legal, comments: “This certainly reflects the trend that we are seeing as we are currently being asked to advise on many more purchases of French property than sales.”Liz Rowlinson, editor at A Place in the Sun Magazine, recently said France is seen as a safe destination among those making an investment in French properties, which is why it is so popular among buyers from the UK.Posted by Matthew Cameron
