Brexit delay and the rights of EU / EEA citizens in the workplace

  • Posted

The European Union have agreed a further delay to the Article 50 deadline (and therefore Brexit) until 31 October unless a withdrawal agreement can be agreed and ratified earlier.

As a result, the United Kingdom remains a member state of the EU until any such ratification or 31 October 2019. This means that the rights of EU / EEA nationals living and working in the UK remains the same until such date, as do the rights of UK citizens living and working in member states of the European Union.

The settled status process remains open for applications.

If you have any queries about the rights of EU nationals in your workplace please do not hesitate to contact Jessica Piper.
