Balfour Beatty staff facing redundancy

Thousands of members of staff at Balfour Beatty have been told that they are facing redundancy as the construction company needs to restructure.All 12,000 of its construction services staff in the UK have been informed savings need to be made, with potentially hundreds of roles affected by the move to slash the firm’s budget.A spokesman for the business confirmed that there is a possibility of redundancies being made, while he stated a consultation period has commenced with its employees.He added this is in order “to align the resources of Balfour Beatty’s Construction Services UK business to current and future market conditions”.The news that hundreds of members of staff at the organisation could be set to lose their jobs in the coming months coincides with an announcement that the firm is extending its sponsorship of the London Youth Games – Europe’s largest youth sport programme – until at least 2015.Posted by Ross Strowger
