Ashtons Legal sponsoring schools dance project
Posted 14/01/2014
Ashtons Legal is pleased to be sponsoring DanceEast’s largest and most ambitious community dance performance, Finding Home, which will be performed in March at the Jerwood DanceHouse in Ipswich.
The performance will bring together young people and adults from across Suffolk and is produced by the Learning & Participation team at DanceEast under the artistic direction of Tom Hobden Dance.
The project brings together choreographer Tom Hobden and film director Kate Flurrie alongside local dance artists, Lucy Blazheva and Mary Davies who are working with primary and secondary school pupils in Suffolk to choreograph their section of the performance. The aim of the project is to bring dance to children and young people who may not otherwise have had the opportunity to be involved in the arts.
The intergenerational cast will include 200 performers from primary and secondary schools in the Babergh, Mid Suffolk and Forest Heath districts. They will be joined by DanceEast Performance Groups Boyz United, the Elderberries and Suffolk Youth Dance Company, as well as an adult community group.
Finding Home is a thoughtful and emotional performance combining film projection mapping with live dance performance. Two performances will take place on Saturday 15 March at the DanceEast Jerwood DanceHouse on Ipswich Waterfront. Please go to the DanceEast website for further information.
