Ashtons Legal’s acclaimed Personal Injury team now has a permanent full-time presence in the firm’s Cambridge office. Ruth Booy, Head of Injury Services, Justina Molloy (Associate), Mark Copley (Solicitor) and Mandy Alderman (administration support), have moved from the firm’s Thetford office to Cambridge.

The firm has a 70-strong injury division across the region and has been awarded a top tier ranking for both personal injury and clinical negligence work by the Legal 500 for over 15 years. The team was recognised as “well-chosen”, providing “thoroughness and good judgment”, with members of the team being praised for having “integrity and values” and being “proactive, extremely intelligent, and compassionate”.  Ruth Booy, who “explains things in plain English” has retained her ‘leading individual’ status from last year, alongside two of her fellow partners in the injury division, giving Ashtons Legal more injury specialist ‘leading individuals’ than any other firm in East Anglia.

Ruth specialises in catastrophic injury work, in particular child brain injury, spinal injury and amputation; Justina focuses on brain injury, complex orthopaedic injury and injuries arising from cycle accidents. They are assisted by Mark Copley who also deals with a broad range of injury work. Mandy Alderman provides support services to the team.

The team is actively involved in the local community. Both Ruth and Justina have lived in the Cambridge area for most of their lives. Ruth is a Trustee of Headway Cambridgeshire; Justina sits on the Cambridge and District Law Society committee. Both are keen cyclists and took part in the Cambridge Big Bike Ride this summer, raising over £2,000 for Headway Cambridgeshire’s vital work with people who have acquired brain injuries. Future rides include the gruelling ‘Bobby on a Bike’ Challenge from Ipswich to Aberystwyth, covering 400 miles in four days. Mark is a Trustee of a local Citizens Advice Bureau, member of the Cambridge and District Law Society and Cambridge Junior Lawyers Division. He is a keen sportsman and plays for the firm’s cricket, rounders and bowling teams.

The Cambridge Team has also been instrumental in launching the Cambridge Medico Legal Forum earlier this year, bringing together legal and medical professionals from the Cambridge area and further afield. Find out more here.
