Ashtons Legal expands its commercial team

Ashtons Legal is pleased to welcome a new solicitor to its Corporate and Commercial team in Cambridge.Mark Whittaker joins the firm on 7 March, having spent nearly nine years working in the corporate teams of two large national firms across Leeds and Manchester.He brings with him a wealth of experience of acting on significant mergers and acquisitions transactions. Notable highlights include acting for Irish multinational DCC plc in connection with its £50m+ acquisition of BP’s LPG business across the UK, Holland and Belgium; advising the management team and private equity firm Dunedin on the sale of military bridge manufacturer WFEL to German based Krauss-Maffei Wegmann for £60m; and acting for Maersk Group in relation to its disposal of UK supermarket group Netto to Asda. Mark also has considerable experience across a range of corporate and commercial areas, including advising on company reorganisations, shareholder agreements, private equity investments and general commercial matters.A keen sportsman with a particular interest in rugby union, Mark grew up in Cambridgeshire and is returning to the city with his young family.Mark commented: “I’m delighted to be joining Ashtons Legal following its merger at what is a particularly exciting time for the firm.”
