Ashtons Legal event welcomes conductor of Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra

Leslie Olive, conductor of the Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra, was the speaker at Ashtons Legal’s StEPS (St Edmundsbury Professional Society) breakfast event yesterday.StEPS is one of the longest running networking events in Bury St Edmunds, attracting senior professionals working in the area. This was the second StEPS event of 2012, which was attended by 60 guests.Leslie spoke about the newly formed Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra, whose inaugural concert will take place in St Edmundsbury Cathedral on Wednesday 23rd May. This Launch Concert will be led by Julian Milone, composer and arranger, who has been with London’s Philharmonia Orchestra for 20 years.The aim behind establishing a new professional orchestra for Suffolk is to give people the opportunity to hear world renowned musicians, not only in the major venues around Suffolk, but in towns and villages across the county.The Orchestra has also embarked on a community education project, working in local schools to give young people the unique opportunity to play alongside and learn from professional musicians.Leslie spoke about the range of ways that companies can support the Orchestra and help turn its vision into an ongoing reality through corporate sponsorship opportunities.
