The corporate team at Ashtons Legal has advised Marriott Sinclair in a deal which will see RPC Consulting acquire the UK-based software and consultancy business.
The deal means three of Marriot Sinclair’s principals – Alun Marriott, Mark Sinclair-McGarvie and Jonathan Broughton – will become Partners of RPC Consulting.
Marriott Sinclair, which has offices in Chesterford in Cambridgeshire, was formed in 2012 and provides software and actuarial consultancy to the insurance, banking and wider financial services communities. The company has developed a software solution called “tyche” a state of the art financial modelling tool that explores the many uncertainties affecting the financial outcome of projects, strategies or business opportunities.
RPC Consulting was established early in 2015 with the appointment of Rory O’Brien, who is the Managing Partner. RPC Consulting, which is a part of city law firm RPC, offers actuarial and general management consultancy services to clients in the insurance sector.
Rory said: “The team at Marriott Sinclair has significant expertise in the insurance consulting sector and its propriety software product, tyche, is a game changer in the insurance market. I have worked with the three principals in the past and am delighted that they are joining us”.
Commenting on the deal, Alun Marriott said: “We are thrilled to join RPC Consulting. RPC has a great brand and in-depth understanding of the insurance market. I believe that in partnering with RPC we are now able to accelerate our goal to position tyche as the platform of choice across the insurance community and beyond”.
Mark Whittaker, partner at Ashtons Legal who led the transaction from Cambridge, said: “This deal marks a major move both for RPC Consulting and Marriott Sinclair. The tyche product has the potential to make a real impact in the market, especially coupled with the impressive technical expertise of Alun, Mark and Jonathan. I wish the whole team all the best for the future and am delighted that we were able to assist them in making this significant step”.
