£8,500 obtained for injured cyclist

Diane Hilton, a personal injury specialist at Ashtons Legal, has obtained an £8,500 settlement for a Cambridge man who was injured in a cycling incident. Mr T suffered injuries to his hand when a driver overtook his bicycle and then swerved in front of him braking sharply. He fell from his cycle, incurring the injuries.
Diane comments: “Mr T was not initially going to seek legal advice because he, like many people, thought that if you ride or drive into the back of another vehicle, you are automatically believed to be the one at fault. In a situation like this, however, it was clearly the fault of the driver who swerved and braked and therefore Mr T was able to be compensated for his injuries. Unfortunately I suspect there are other people in similar situations who have a valid claim but never pursue it because they are not aware that it is worthwhile doing so.”
